Alba Thermal Springs and Spa offers a world-class wellness experience, located in the picturesque Mornington Peninsula of Victoria. The spa features 32 indoor and outdoor geothermal pools, indulgent spa treatments, and a fine dining restaurant, ‘Thyme,’ which showcases local produce and regional wines. With a focus on relaxation and rejuvenation, Alba aims to provide an all-encompassing, stress-free experience for its guests, ensuring they feel pampered from arrival to departure.

THE CHALLENGE

The primary challenge faced by Alba was providing a seamless and efficient guest experience while maintaining high security. Initially, guests were manually assigned lockers, causing delays during check-in. Additionally, housekeeping had no way of knowing when a locker was free to prepare for the next guest. Alba’s goal was to create a frictionless journey for visitors, allowing them to freely transition between various facilities—pools, spa treatments, and the restaurant—without the need to carry keys.

 

SOLUTION

To address these challenges, Alba partnered with Salto and Gantner to implement an integrated system that enables keyless, streamlined access to all facilities. Guests now receive a silicone wristband with Mifare contactless technology, which serves as their ‘key’ to access lockers and doors. The system includes 70 Salto wall readers across the premises and 632 Gantner smart locker locks. Integration with the property management system (IBIS) ensures that guests are automatically assigned a locker with towels, robes, and slippers upon arrival, and housekeeping is notified when the locker is free. This intelligent system significantly improves operational efficiency while enhancing the guest experience.
